Celtic v Rangers Scottish Premiership kick off time, TV channel, news

Celtic Park will host the first Old Firm Derby of the 2022/23 campaign on Saturday as Rangers travel through Glasgow to take on Celtic.

The hosts have made an almost perfect start to the new Scottish Premiership season as they seek to defend their title. They have won their five games so far – scoring 21 times and conceding just once.

Ange Postecoglou will be keen to lead his side to back-to-back triumphs after tasting league success in his first season at the helm, but despite their 100 per cent record, a loss to their fierce rivals Glasgow on Saturday would see them give up first place. .

Rangers were less convincing than their rivals in the opening weeks of the season, but they are just two points clear on their trip to Celtic Park and boast an impressive recent record at the stadium – having avoided defeat in four of their last five visits. .

Both clubs will be contesting the Champions League this season, which is a testament to the quality of Postecoglou and Giovanni van Bronckhorst in their respective teams.

Everything points to another hard-fought title race in the Scottish Premiership and this weekend’s game offers both clubs a chance to strike the first blow.

Our prediction: Celtic v Rangers

There is no doubt that it is Celtic who approach Saturday’s game with more momentum. They beat Dundee United nine times last weekend in a brutal display to maintain their 100% record this season.

They also have the league’s top scorer in Kyogo Furuhashi, who has six out of five, and the Japanese striker will be looking for his first Old Firm goal on Saturday.

But Rangers sharpshooter Antonio-Mirko Colak hasn’t started life badly in Scotland either, winning four out of five games since arriving in the summer.

Arguably the biggest derby in the northern hemisphere, Celtic v Rangers matches rarely disappoint and with both sides picking up steam in the first month of the season, this one could be another classic.

Our prediction: Celtic 3-1 Rangers (14/1 at bet365)
