Everton v Liverpool Premier League kick off time, TV channel, news

The weekend’s Premier League TV schedule kicks off at Goodison Park where Everton host Liverpool for the first Merseyside Derby of the new campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds arrive midday on Saturday on the back of back-to-back wins after Fabio Carvalho’s last winner against Newcastle at Anfield in midweek.

It wasn’t until their brutal 9-0 thrashing at Bournemouth last weekend that Liverpool were back to their best, but fans will hope Wednesday night’s drama can help them rediscover top gear on a consistent basis.

Beating their bitter local rivals would certainly bring back more of a good feeling and be even sweeter for the fans if it sent the Toffees down to the bottom three.

Frank Lampard’s side are only outside the relegation zone on goals scored and have yet to win this season – with 1-1 draws against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds recovering their three points in five games.

After avoiding relegation last season, 2022/23 has not brought the fresh start Lampard was hoping for and questions have already been raised over whether he is the right fit for the Everton job.

There could be no better way to appease doubters than by beating Liverpool, but that’s no small feat.

Our prediction: Everton vs Liverpool

Goodison Park has waited over a decade for a victory in the Merseyside Derby and when Liverpool lost to Man Utd a few weeks ago some Toffees fans may have dreamed this game could provide them with a fantastic chance to set this record flat.

Unfortunately for Everton, Liverpool have gained some momentum since then and despite a string of injuries and some obvious defensive frailties, we shouldn’t underestimate the significance this late winner against Newcastle could have.

They say the form card is going out the window in a derby game, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Reds continue their dominance on Merseyside.

Our prediction: Everton 1-3 Liverpool (11/1 at bet365)
