Fulham v Aston Villa Premier League kick off time, TV channel, news

Fulham v Aston Villa may not be the most glamorous match on Wednesday’s Premier League television schedule, but there are plenty of stories ahead of the game at Craven Cottage.

Steven Gerrard’s future is surely the biggest talking point, with reports suggesting the Villa Park side have contacted Mauricio Pochettino to sound him out as a potential replacement for the former England captain.

That seems a bit harsh as Villa improved against Chelsea on Sunday and were unlucky to come away with nothing – Kepa Arizabalaga being largely responsible for the Blues’ victory.

Marco Silva’s side ended their mini slump in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, coming from behind twice to score a point with the kind of fight and determination that Fulham sides n haven’t shown in previous Premier League seasons.

With confidence high at Craven Cottage, the west Londoners will see their next three opponents, Villa, Leeds United and Everton as teams they can beat and will want to get points on the table given they face both sides. Manchester just before the World Cup. Pause.

With Silva having plenty of credit in the bank after Fulham’s strong start to the season, you wonder if the loss to the Cottagers could prove fatal for Gerrard.

Our prediction: Fulham v Aston Villa

Pre-season it’s the sort of game Villa will have named as the one they should win, but Fulham have defied the odds for the most part this term and represent a tough midweek fixture.

Tyrone Mings’ error gave Chelsea the lead at the weekend and he faces another tough night against Aleksandar Mitrovic, who took his tally for the season to seven out of nine games.

But Fulham’s defense has hardly been watertight of late – conceding 11 goals in its last four games – and Gerrard’s side have created plenty of chances against Chelsea so could be a high-rolling affair. score.

Our prediction: Fulham 2-2 Aston Villa (14/1 at bet365)
