Leicester v Brentford Premier League kick off time, TV channel, news

The return of the Premier League probably can’t come soon enough for Leicester City fans after what has been a frustrating summer.

No new signings have been made by the Foxes as many of their key players continue to be tied to the exit door. Captain Kasper Schmeichel appears to have left after seemingly agreeing a three-year deal with Nice while Youri Tielemans, Wesley Fofana, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison have all been linked with a move to top-flight rivals.

But even amid off-field discomfort, Leicester will view their opener against Brentford at the King Power Stadium on Sunday as one they should win.

The Bees have enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in the Premier League, but Thomas Frank will be determined to ensure his side can avoid the second-season slump that has seen so many sides before they drop back down to the Championship.

The addition of Ben Mee, Aaron Hickey, Keane Lewis-Potter and Thomas Strakosha means Frank has added depth ahead of the start of the 2022/23 campaign – although the loss of Christian Eriksen has left some creativity in their Midfielder.

Leicester shouldn’t have such a problem given the playmakers available for Brendan Rodgers and they hope to help the home support forget about the maddening past few months.

Our prediction: Leicester v Brentford

Although their quiet window was a bit uninspiring, continuity may not be a bad thing for Leicester and the summer break should serve them well.

Schmeichel’s exit looks close, but assuming none of his key men have had their heads turned, Rodgers should be able to name a team capable of putting Brentford to the sword.

The Bees have done well to keep their team together after an impressive first season in the top flight, but not having replaced Eriksen yet could be the difference at King Power Stadium.

Our prediction: Leicester 2-1 Brentford (2/17 at bet365)
