Man Utd v Brighton Premier League kick off time, TV channel, news

Old Trafford will be the venue for Erik ten Hag’s first competitive game of Manchester United’s tenure as the Red Devils host Brighton in their opener of the 2022/23 Premier League TV programme.

The Dutchman hopes to bring back the good times at the historic club after his appointment before the summer. It won’t be easy or short, but ten Hag hopes to see some positive first steps on Sunday at the Theater of Dreams.

It’s hard to argue with the signings of Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez, but at Man Utd drama is never far away and the ongoing sagas of Cristiano Ronaldo and Frenkie de Jong remain a dark cloud over the club for the moment.

Finally, we can turn our full attention to what happens between the white lines and Brighton’s visit to Old Trafford promises to be some exciting Premier League competition.

Graham Potter may feel aggrieved that his side’s performance didn’t translate to better results last season and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them battling higher up the table this time around.

Sunday’s game comes three months to the day after the Seagulls embarrassed Man Utd at the AMEX. This result will have damaged the pride of the Red Devils and you have to sense that there will be many players desperate for revenge.

Our prediction: Man Utd v Brighton

Man Utd’s dismal 4-0 loss to Brighton in May was emblematic of the sour end to Ralf Rangnick’s tenure, and supporters will hope the opening day victory can be a harbinger of good times to come under the replacement of the German.

The Seagulls have had a fairly quiet window but the impact of having managed to keep the majority of their team together should not be underestimated.

This will be a test for the hosts. A test of where exactly ten Hag members are right now and what we can expect from them this quarter.

Our prediction: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton (2/17 at bet365)
